Orationer från svensk stormaktstid, exempelvis skrivna kring Gustav II Adolfs död, uppvisar en djup och stark kunskap om lovprisningens topiker - vad som bör hyllas och hur. Denna artikel vill visa hur tidigmoderna retoriska handböcker traderar de klassiska föreskrifterna om topikval inom genus demonstrativum, samt lyfta fram och problematisera lovprisningens roll under denna epok.
