About the Journal

Rhetorica Scandinavica is a open access, peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes interdisciplinary research relevant to Scandinavian rhetorical studies. It is the only journal focusing on rhetorical practice, theory-building and methodological development in Scandinavia. The journal publishes academic articles and reviews in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and English.

Rhetorica Scandinavica publishes articles covering topics such as the history of rhetoric, critical rhetoric, argumentation theory, rhetoric didactics and rhetorical theory. The journal welcomes contributions from neighboring fields such as media and communication studies, political science, linguistics, aesthetic sciences, history of ideas, didactics, law, and more, provided that the rhetorical perspective is prominent.

 

About the journal

Rhetorica Scandinavica is published by Retorikforlaget. The journal was founded in 1997. As of 2020, the journal is only published online.

Rhetorica Scandinavica is approved as a level 2 publication channel in the Ministry of Education and Research’s authorization list for series (Denmark) and as a level 1 publication channel at NSD – Norwegian Center for Research Data (Norway and Sweden).

The journal is published with support from the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research under the scheme for open access journals in the humanities and social sciences, funded for the period 2024–2026.
