Retorisk konstituering af en sag. Den græske tradition

Denne artikel forfølger Maurice Charlands antagelse om, at modellen for konstitutiv retorik kan spores tilbage til sofisterne. Gennem en fremstilling af de væsentligste begrebslige og ontologiske sammenhænge mellem logos, tale, og eris, strid, er hensigten at vise, hvordan talen om fred og konflikt er underordnet en definition af retorik som den kunst at konstituere en sag. Artiklen henviser til Hesiod, Heraklit, Protagoras, Gorgias og Aristoteles og søger gennem inddragelse af Heidegger, Gadamer og Grassi at løsne retorik fra den almindelige forståelse, at den skulle være rettet mod en sag som noget på forhånd givet. Det er på den baggrund målet at uddybe Charlands redegørelse for den konstitutive retoriks konstruktion af et “folk” som en historisk bestemt identitet ved at klargøre, hvordan en konstitueret sag beror på tilsløringen af en forudgående konstituerende strid, og kort vise, at en retorik om “folkets sag” blot er et særtilfælde af konstitutiv retorik.
