Abstract

Memes kan beskrives som et humoristisk, til tider satirisk, indlæg med intertekstuelle eller indforståede virkemidler der fungerer sammen med en visuel appel. Centrale for memes er gentagelsen og skabelonen, det vil sige det at man som retor arbejder ud fra noget givet som ændres i større eller mindre grad, men ideelt set aldrig mere end at det oprindelige stadig er genkendeligt for derved at skabe den nødvendige referenceramme som netop sætter forandringen i perspektiv. At læse og producere memes er for mange en hverdagspraksis, ofte mest for sjov, men nogle mememagere bidrager desuden med en politisk samfundskritisk kommentar. Artiklen undersøger tre danske memeprofilers opstart, udvikling og særlige kendetegn med henblik på at vurdere hvordan de med deres praksis bidrager til samfundsdebatten. Der zoomes ind på mememagernes retoriske håndværk, fx brug af humor og retoriske figurer, for at afgøre hvilken rolle dette spiller for deres etos og for hvordan mememagerne får tilskrevet retorisk handlekraft.
